Mrs. O’Gorman‘s social studies classes enjoyed a special presentation today. Professional, Scott, an anthropology and biology professor at Kankakee community college, came to our classes today. She brought with her skulls from each of the hominid species that we’ve studied. Professor Scott also explain how species were determined, the process of evolution, and answered a number of questions from the students. It was exceptionally cool, and we are very grateful for her time and talents.

October Breakfast/Lunch Menu

As shared at the beginning of this year, Liberty students have participated in a program called One School One Book. As a result, our entire school community is reading the same book at the same time. The book we chose to read is called Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan. This morning our whole school participated in a virtual author visit with Sarah Weeks, one of the co-authors of the book. During the visit we learned about Sarah's background, her journey to becoming a well-known author, and the process that she and her co-author went through to write Save Me a Seat. At the end of the presentation, students were able to participate in a Q&A with the author. They even got a hand-written signature sticker to put inside their copy of the book. This was such an amazing experience for our students!
