Mrs. LeSage's and Mrs. Martin's classes are buddies. They had about 30 minutes to work. It was fun watching the groups analyze, create a plan, try different paper chain size solutions, and use critical thinking skills while trying to make the longest paper chain.

LeVasseur: Mrs. LeSage's class and Mrs. Martin's class are buddies. Today we had one 4th grader paired with one or two 2nd graders. Each pair was given one piece of construction paper. They had about 30 minutes to create the longest paper chain with that 1 piece of paper. It was fun watching the groups analyze, create a plan, try different paper chain size solutions, and use critical thinking skills while trying to make the longest paper chain. Finally, we spread all of the paper chains out in the MPR to see which buddy group had the longest chain.

Winter Concert fun at LeVasseur!

More LeVasseur students making gingerbread houses!

LeVasseur students in Mrs. Domanzsky and Miss Matyskela's class made gingerbread houses last week. So fun!

LeVasseur thanks Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center students for helping last week with an art project!

Each Quarter our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students participate in the Fitnessgram Pacer Test. This test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The goal is for the students to pace themselves and complete as many laps as possible before they stop. These six students have currently earned the most laps in their grade level. Along with receiving an athletic achievement award they get their names on a poster in the gym until the next test is completed. Great job students!!!

Wild West Day at LeVasseur was a huge hit with our second graders!

PARENTS: This is a reminder that the 2020 Illinois Parent Survey opened on Oct. 24, 2019. Link for parents to take the survey:

We need your input so please take time to complete this survey. Thank you!

LeVasseur Parents: We would like all parents to write a small positive message that your child will read prior to taking their January MAP tests. There will be a display at parent/teacher conferences for you to write the letter or you can write a letter and bring it to your child's conference. Writing a few sentences about how you love them and want them to do their best will contribute to your child's great attitude when they read the letter right before taking the test. Thank you! Your child's teacher.

Mrs. Moulton showed Ms. Wasnea’s class a new tool to use on their Chromebooks. The students worked on Google Slides to build a turkey. The students used copy and paste to add silly features to their turkeys!

LeVasseur first grade classes salute our veterans! An actual veteran was invited in to speak to the classes about her experience being in the United States Armed Forces. What a great experience for our students!

More LeVasseur 4th and 2nd graders working together to write poetry for local veterans. LeVasseur appreciates our veterans!

LeVasseur students enjoyed their trip to the museum last week!

Mrs. LeSage's 4th grade students are buddies with Mrs. Martin's 2nd graders. Yesterday students watched a short video on Veteran's Day, brainstormed words that describe Veterans, and then created acrostic poems to give to a Veteran that we know.

On Friday, Ms. Bicknell was invited by a student to be a guest reader in Miss Delmore’s class!

Last week, Miss Delmore’s first graders at LeVasseur learned about measurement using a real pumpkin! They measured the height, circumference, weight, and counted the number of seeds together. The total number of seeds was 566!
