The District Office enjoyed getting to judge the 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off! They had 9 entries which were all delicious but only 3 made the cut for a "Spoon". 1st place Carl Bradley 2nd place Leanne Shelley 3rd place Scott Austin Honorable mention goes to Michael Yurkowski, Brigette Dowdy, Brad Shaul, Brenda Smith and Ed Cadle.

BESD 53 Families, There is an Open House at the Exploration Station on Saturday, November 19 from 10 am - 2:00 pm. Families can explore the new Feelings Exhibit at the museum and participate in hands-on activities focusing on social and emotional wellness and Theraplay. Harold the giraffe, the mascot of the Life Education Center, will also be there to meet the families! This is a free event sponsored by Project SUN.

Friday, September 16th Due to a shortage of bus drivers this afternoon the Transportation Dept. will be making minor adjustments to a few of our routes. Some students may be on a different bus than their normal route and drop-off times may be affected approx. 10 minutes.

The Kankakee Health Department is hosting an Adolescent Wellness Visit Clinic on Saturday, October 1st, 2022. This comprehensive Wellness Visit will provide adolescents (ages 11-21) what is needed to meet their school physical requirements prior to the October 15th cut off. Our educators spent the day increasing their knowledge on the Professional Learning Community process. PLC is a type of school change that emphasizes the importance of trust, collaboration , and job embedded learning by educators in order to advance achievement of students. We are so excited to put this professional development into action!
