Mr. Outsen (8th Grade Social Studies) sent this cool photo of his 5th hour students with their Constitution Books that were gifted to them from Robin Kelly. Nothing cooler than students appreciating their rights!

ANYONE who has ever attended BUGC is welcome to our first ever HOMECOMING basketball game on Thursday, Nov. 7th!! Come out and support the Tigers and reconnect with your BUGC Family!

Last night BUGC hosted its annual Fine Arts Fright Night and it was a big hit!!

Mrs. Eastman’s class participated in “How To” Projects where students taught the class how to do something they are good at. These projects come at the beginning of our Knowledge Unit where we explore how people gain knowledge and understand the world around them. Students shared skills such as playing the cello, making chocolate milk, riding a segue, finger knitting, and many more! What a fun couple of days

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM:
Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center is excited for our students to have the opportunity to thank our Veterans!! We are asking any student who has a family member that is a veteran or a current service member to invite that person to a Veterans Breakfast. On Monday, November 11th, beginning promptly at 9:30am ending at 10:30am, in the BUGC cafeteria we will host a breakfast honoring veterans. Students whose family members are present will be allowed to leave class and participate in the breakfast. Please RSVP by clicking on the link and completing the form before Wednesday, November 6th. This will allow us to know how many attendees we will have.
May God Bless All Who Have Served Our Country!!!!

BUGC HOMECOMING:
BUGC would like to invite ALL Alumni to our first Homecoming!! On Nov. 7th at 4:30 the Boys Basketball teams will have their first home game and all BUGC Alumni are welcome to attend. All entry tickets are only $1. Please plan on coming out to support the tigers and reconnect with your BUGC family.

This year Fab Lab added its first multi-filament/multi-color 3D printer. Jaeden is the first student to design and print a multi-color part at BUGC. His Patrick Star from Spongebob uses 5 different filaments, took over 12 hours to design (many of those hours were spent at home), and 15 hours to print.

Officer Dave Stukenborg, shares what it’s like to live in a wheelchair with BUGC students. Thank you, Mrs. Daub, for inviting him in to speak with our students.

This young lady has increased the number of books she has read from last year to now by more than 200%!! We are so proud of you, Emily!! #BUGCcreatinglifelongreaders

Every year our PE teachers put together the best obstacle course for our students. This year did not disappoint!! Mr. Arlis, Ms. Gamble and Mr. Dersien thank you keeping our students fit and engaged!!

Our 8th Grade Baseball Team was honored at The Village of Bourbonnais Board meeting tonight. The Tigers finished 3rd in the state this year!! So proud of our coaches and players!!!

Our Cross Country Team is running at the state competition right now. On Monday, there was no school. These guys showed up to have their own student led cross country practice!! You gotta love it!!

Please support the girls basketball fundraiser at Chicago Dough!!!

This is what I call getting your team of teachers on “the same page”! Mrs. Tupy and Mrs. Carlton of 7th Grade team black were twinning on Thursday.

Mrs. Buck and Mrs. Carlton challenges their students to match graphs, tables, equations and ordered pairs. Students were also creating graphs and tables by measuring how long it takes for water to fill a cylinder.

We are two weeks away from our 3rd Annual Fine Arts Fright Night. This is a fun event for all families and students of BESD 53. Please come out for a great night of music, shop at the book fair and partake in some spooky treats.
Thank you for supporting the BESD Fine Arts Department

Not sure we need any more reasons to boast about how much of a positive influence Officer Garcia is on our students!!! But here ya go!! These lucky students won a ride to school with SRO Garcia and even were treated to Dunkin’! This was part of raffle prizes at The PTA back to school bash.

Last week, Mrs. Lundmark’s 8th Grade Gold students carved pumpkins in a study of correlation. They measured the weight of the pumpkin, the circumference, and counted the seeds inside. The conclusion: larger pumpkins have more seeds, with a correlation coefficient of about 0.6. We had a great time! A big thanks to all the parents and Kroger for donating pumpkins!
