Dear 8th Grade Parents and Students,
We are excited to announce Mrs. Carlton and Mr. Chamernik will lead a group of Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center students on a WorldStrides trip to Charlottseville, VA, Luray, VA and Washington DC.
On this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, students will explore our nation's most important historical sites and experience incomparable learning moments. This will be a trip that your child will be talking about for years to come! Your child will return home excited to tell you about:
Standing where Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial
Discovering the true meaning of sacrifice at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Walking in the footsteps of our great leaders on Capitol Hill
Exploring numerous Smithsonian Museums, like the National Museum of Natural History and the National Air and Space Museum
And much more!
We have chosen to travel with WorldStrides because of their exceptional service, their 50 years of experience, their safety record and their preventive measures that ensure learning occurs in a safe and fun environment. We have led this trip for many years now and look forward to leading it again. We will chaperone the program with other teachers as needed, and throughout the program our group will be guided by a WorldStrides-certified Course Leader.
There will be an informational trip meeting to discuss this wonderful opportunity on Wednesday, July 22nd. Families with last names A to M will meet at 6:00pm and last names N to Z will meet at 6:45pm. The meeting is being held in the MPR at Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center. Having two meetings will limit the number of people in accordance with the Governor's COVID plan for Illinois and will keep families at the social distance requirements. We ask only one parent to attend the meeting with their student.

It is very important that I take some time to recognize the BUGC PE Teachers. This week all of their hard work paid off as they were approved as a BLUE RIBBON PE program!! BUGC will have new work packets for days 6-11 for any students who do not have access to computers or the internet. The work packets will be available on the afternoon of Monday, March 30th. Please enter the main office and let us know for whom you are picking up and we will provide a new work packet. Please bring any completed work back to the school at that time.

Here is an Easy FUN watercolor project with Crayola Markers.
1. Draw a picture lightly with pencil.
2. Color with Crayola Markers.
3. Dip clean paint brush in water and "paint" lightly over marker areas.
🎨 The water will make the marker color dissolve slightly. Allow the water to spread and blur the lines. This will give you a wonderful watercolor effect with Markers. All after school activities at BUGC are cancelled for today. Also the public library has cancelled all after school activities for students. Please do not send students to the public library for after school programs.
